SALARY: Pay grade 13 $12.00

Supervised by/Reports to: Housekeeping supervisor Department: Assets Division: Exec. Director

 
There is no wage negotiation due to a Tribal Council Directive 12-19-06.  

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Public Safety and Environmental Protection participate in the tribal conservation program as a conservation enforcement field officer. utilizing accepted practices as part of a long term conservation plan that will provide the Stockbridge-Munsee Community with an environmentally sound natural resource area for wildlife, fish and fowl.

DUTIES:

  1. Will enforce all tribal conservation ordinances under part V Chapters 20, 21, and 22 of the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Laws.
  2. Will provide a safe game harvest during the normal tribal hunting seasons while maintaining the streams, rivers and marshlands of the reservation in a safe and well cared for fashion
  3. Patrol the reservation utilizing accepted enforcement patrol protocols and procedures.
  4. File comprehensive written reports in a timely fashion utilizing a chronological format.
  5. Conduct investigations into all allegations of reported game violations occurring within the tribal boundaries.
  6. Issue required citations for fish and game violations and act as a competent witness in both tribal court and the circuit court system.
  7. Actively participate in the meetings of the Tribal Conservation Committee as a resource person.
  8. Actively participate in promoting department programs and appear as a speaker at public events and radio broadcasts to enlighten the community about modern conservation efforts and programs.
  9. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  10. Must be reliable.
  11. Must attend all training provided by the employer.
  12. Must attend all meetings.
  13. Must adhere to all established rules, regulations, procedures and policies of the Stockbridge-Munsee Community.
  14. Must participate in the employee random drug-testing program.
  15. The above duties are representative of the position, however, they may be added, deleted or modified as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  2. Associate or Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice, Conservation or game management or environmental sciences preferred.
  3. Ability to obtain Wisconsin Law Enforcement Certification preferred.
  4. Must possess or be able to obtain valid certification as a Hunter Safety Instructor.
  5. Must be able to physically perform all the duties of a game warden in a rural community.
  6. Familiar with the regulatory laws governing conservation, preferred.
  7. Must be able to successfully complete any and all assigned training that will assist in perfecting required job skills, fire arms certification.
  8. Must meet the driver acceptability guidelines as established by Mohican Nation Insurance.
  9. Working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Evidence, chain of custody and case law as it pertains to search and seizure.
  10. Must be an enrolled member of the Stockbridge-Munsee tribe.
  11. Must submit and pass pre-employment drug and health screening.
  12. Have demonstrated the ability to maintain a satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must complete a physical examination, to meet physical requirements of the B.I.A.
