Circle of Flight
Circle of Flight funds were received in 2006 from the Bureau of Indian Affairs to install an earthen dam and a half riser “stoplog” water control structure allowing for the establishment of a permanent wetland impoundment along National Guard road. This 10 acre area was previously flooded as a result of beaver activity. Management of water depth was non-existent for the Conservation Department. The project was completed in August of 2007 with help from Stockbridge-Munsee Roads Dept. The installation of this dam and structure makes it possible to provide optimal water conditions for waterfowl nesting and rearing.
